ODMTT Supports Tobago Oil Spill Clean Up Efforts

Scarborough, Tobago – February 9th, 2024 – The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), with crucial assistance from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), provided essential supplies to the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) today, Friday, February 9th, 2024. These provisions are a vital reinforcement for the ongoing oil spill clean-up and containment effort following the overturning of a vessel in the vicinity of Canoe Bay.

The delivered items included a range of necessary equipment: Tyvek suits, hazmat bins, reflective vests, wheelbarrows, shovels, pitchforks, goggles, steel-toe boots, collapsible barrels, and roll polythene. The provision of these items marks a crucial step in the national response to this environmental impact, underscoring Trinidad and Tobago’s collective mission to serve communities in times of need. This support from the ODPM and TTDF is paramount in effectively managing the complex and widespread clean-up operations on Tobago’s affected coastlines.
