Angelica Autopsy Complete, Family Wait to Take Her Home
April 14, 2026 — An autopsy has confirmed the cause of death for seven-year-old Angelica Jogie, who was tragically killed last Wednesday at Pigeon Point. The examination, performed by pathologist Dr. Hubert Daisley at the Scarborough Mortuary on Monday, revealed that the child died from multiple traumatic injuries, with significant trauma to the head.
Angelica’s father, Arnold Jogie, who was also injured in the jet ski collision, remains on the island with his wife Salisha and other relatives as they finalize the paperwork to return their daughter’s body to Barrackpore, Trinidad. Despite suffering from persistent back and chest pain, Mr. Jogie expressed his gratitude for the national outpouring of support, stating that the prayers of citizens have been the family’s main source of strength.
Calls for Marine Safety Reform
Speaking from Tobago, Mr. Jogie called for immediate and permanent changes to how marine spaces are managed across the country. While he stopped short of supporting a total ban on jet skis, he urged authorities to strictly segregate motorized watercraft from popular bathing areas.
“Let we get rid of it from all popular bathing areas,” Jogie said. “I wouldn’t say put a ban to jet skis, but let us put a designated area for them… so no other family has to suffer a loss like this.”
Legal Status and Investigation
The 32-year-old suspect from Canaan, who was apprehended shortly after the incident, remains in police custody at the Crown Point Police Station. Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk confirmed that while the autopsy results have been added to the case file, investigators are still conducting interviews and gathering forensic evidence.
The police have emphasized that the investigation is “complex” and requires thorough due diligence before the file is formally submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice on charges.
As the Jogie family prepares to leave the island, a heavy sense of grief remains over Pigeon Point, where the temporary moratorium on jet ski operations continues.
