In November 2023, Tobago hosted the UNESCO Underwater Archaeology Training program, welcoming 20 students from Latin America and the Caribbean. Over three weeks, the participants, guided by UNESCO and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, explored underwater cultural heritage and its management. The program concluded on December 7th with presentations by the students, marking a collaborative milestone in maritime education and preservation.
The Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transportation, Tashia Burris, was present at the occasion, alongside the Technical Advisor for Culture, Charleston Thomas, and the Protocol and International Relations Officer, Sean McCoon.
