Founded by Veronika Danzer-LaFortune, The Healing with Horses Foundation was established in 2010 as an NGO that provides free equine therapy to special needs children and adults in Buccoo. Ambassador for the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Christophe Eik, said, like many Germans, Danzer-LaFortune initially came to Tobago while on vacation but has since made the island her home. He commended her work at the foundation, as bestowed the Order of Merit.
Danzer-LaFortune was grateful for the recognition, and thanked her husband, who has ably supported her over the years. Additionally, Mrs. Danzer-LaFortune noted that many students have visited the foundation and have received equine therapy, which she describes as very relaxing. This kind of therapy involves grooming, feeding, and riding the horses.
