Charlotteville, Tobago – In preparation for the festive season, residents of Charlotteville are gearing up to participate in a crucial Christmas white waste cleanup, spearheaded by Public Health Inspector Ricardo Bobb. This initiative is strategically aligned with Tobago’s broader mosquito eradication program and aims to significantly curb the spread of the dengue virus by eliminating potential breeding sites.
Scheduled to kick off on December 14th, the cleanup specifically targets the proper disposal of large, old appliances such as fridges and stoves. Bobb strongly emphasizes the importance of community collaboration, urging residents to assist each other in bringing out their “white waste” the day before the scheduled collection to facilitate a smooth process.
Despite a robust existing waste collection service in the region, Bobb noted persistent instances of littering in Scarborough and stressed the imperative need for a collective behavioral shift across the island. He encouraged all residents to actively utilize available bins and commit to responsible waste disposal. In a bid to further foster community spirit, Bobb called upon residents to unite and facilitate the entire cleanup process.
As this important cleanup initiative approaches, Bobb remains optimistic that widespread community participation will not only enhance the cleanliness of Charlotteville but also foster a greater sense of unity during the holiday season.
