Routine Raids and Patrols for Scarborough Hotspots

August 13, 2026 — As commuters and pedestrians traverse the busy commercial hub of downtown Scarborough, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Tobago Division continues to make its presence felt through sustained, high-visibility operations. Law enforcement officers are conducting routine raids, tactical roadblocks, and targeted foot and mobile sweeps across designated crime hotspots throughout the capital.

Proactive Crime Suppression & Commercial Security

The targeted operations form part of a broader island-wide security initiative designed to deter criminal elements, dismantle illicit street-level activity, and provide reassurance to the business community and traveling public during peak transit hours.

  • Grid & Foot Patrols: Officers are deployed across major thoroughfares, transit terminals, and commercial strips—including Carrington Street, Main Street, and the Scarborough Port perimeter—to curb opportunistic robberies, pickpocketing, and shoplifting.
  • Stop-and-Search Operations: Police units are carrying out randomized stop-and-search exercises focusing on suspicious individuals, unregistered vehicles, and suspected drug distribution points within downtown alleys.
  • Business & Community Collaboration: Law enforcement leaders are engaging directly with store owners and vendors, urging heightened vigilance and promoting real-time reporting of suspicious movements.

TTPS officials emphasized that these proactive measures will remain consistent throughout the August holiday period to preserve order and maintain public confidence in the island’s commercial capital.
