Scarborough, Tobago – Annually, May is regarded as a National Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Month in Trinidad and Tobago. Allan Stewart, Director of the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), shared how the island should strategically prepare for the upcoming Hurricane and Rainy seasons.

Stewart emphasized the importance of striking a balance in the approach to the hurricane season. He urged various sectors across the island to make themselves “hard targets,” thereby enhancing their resilience. He noted that often, the focus is predominantly placed on property owners protecting themselves and their families, highlighting the need for a broader, island-wide preparedness strategy that extends across all sectors.
