July 21st, 2025– Former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is demanding answers following a troubling encounter during recent international travel, which he claims was linked to his name being flagged on an INTERPOL watch list.
At a press conference held at his Glencoe residence, Dr. Rowley recounted experiencing immigration delays while passing through Antigua last week. He attributed the incident to what he believes is a deliberate attempt by the current Government to tarnish his reputation, specifically naming Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Attorney General John Jeremie as those he holds responsible. He asserted that the situation is not only an attack on his character but also raises serious national concerns regarding political interference.Dr. Rowley has publicly challenged authorities to explain what alleged offense, personal or professional, could justify such an international alert. He called on Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro to state whether the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) had any role in triggering the alert through INTERPOL.
In response, the TTPS, via a media release, confirmed that Dr. Rowley is not on any INTERPOL watch list, stating that no alerts or submissions have been made by local authorities concerning him. The TTPS emphasized that INTERPOL listings require strict legal documentation and cannot be influenced by political direction. Reaffirming its neutrality, the TTPS urged caution in public statements. Dr. Rowley has described the incident as a “stain” on his reputation and accused the Government of defamation, hinting at political motives potentially tied to his CARICOM legacy.
