Seventeen-year-old Trinidad and Tobago swimmer Zuri Ferguson finished third in her heat in the Women’s 100m backstroke event but did not qualify for the semi-finals at the Olympic Games. Competing in the second heat, Ferguson began Team TTO’s Olympic campaign on Monday morning in Paris. She made a strong comeback in the final 25 meters, finishing with a time of 1:02.75. Only the 16 fastest swimmers advanced to the semi-finals, with two reserves named. Ferguson was 27th out of 36 swimmers. As the youngest member of the TTO team at her first Olympic Games, Zuri’s drive and discipline are incredibly promising for the future. Veteran swimmer Dylan Carter is up next for Team TTO in the Men’s 50m Freestyle Event, scheduled for tomorrow morning at 5:15 AM.
