PM Dr. Rowley contends that Trinidad and Tobago is a zone of peace.
Trinidad and Tobago has been part of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) agreement since 2007, with the agreement renewed on December 10, 2024. It outlines the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States, including the US military’s ability to deploy troops here without administrative obstacles. Despite the strong US-Trinidad and Tobago relationship, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley assured that the country’s ties with Venezuela remain unaffected.
