PM Dr. Rowley contends that Trinidad and Tobago is a zone of peace.
Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Trinidad and Tobago has been a part of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the United States since 2007, and the agreement was recently renewed on December 10, 2024.
The SOFA outlines the relationship between the two countries, including the US military’s ability to deploy troops here without administrative obstacles. Despite the strong US-Trinidad and Tobago relationship, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley assured that the country’s ties with Venezuela remain unaffected.
