Scarborough, Tobago – August 15, 2024 – The Hillsborough Reservoir in Tobago is nearing full capacity, according to the latest update from the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) on their social media pages. WASA reports that the Hillsborough Dam is currently at 80.8%, just shy of its long-term average (LTA) of 86.5%.
In Trinidad, reservoir levels are also showing slow but steady increases. The Arena Reservoir stands at 31.59% capacity, the Hollis Reservoir in East Trinidad at 34.87%, and the Navet Reservoir in South Trinidad at 41.73%. Earlier in the year, all reservoirs were severely impacted by the extreme heat of the dry season. However, recent rainfall has contributed to their replenishment. WASA continues to urge the public to conserve water and report leaks, emphasizing the ongoing need for responsible water use across Trinidad and Tobago.
