carborough, Tobago – Last night’s Inter-Department Carnival Competition 2024 was hailed as one of the most spectacular events the island has ever seen. From impressive talents to gorgeous costumes and hilarious calypsos, the show captivated hundreds of patrons at the Parade Grounds, Dwight Yorke Stadium, delivering entertainment from start to finish.
Dwayne White Jr., representing the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation, clinched the top prize in the Personality competition. His talent presentation, “Hairy Proposal,” written by Rayshawn Pierre, alongside his elaborate costume “Abaddon – Prince of Demons,” secured him the coveted crown.
In the highly anticipated Calypso Competition, Gary Baptiste (Calypsonian), representing the Division of Community Development, Youth Development and Sport, emerged victorious with his hit song, “Fish Wish.”
The evening kicked off with welcome remarks from Assistant Secretary for the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation, Ms. Megan Morrison. The event seamlessly blended various segments, including talent showcases, the calypso competition, elaborate costume presentations, and an energetic flag-waving competition. Guest artistes provided additional entertainment between segments, leading up to the legendary flag-waving activity by each Division just before the official results were announced.
