Fishing vessel, “The People” TFT-1214, was reported stolen from Plymouth
A fishing vessel was stolen from Plymouth. According to Curtis Douglas, President of the All Tobago Fisherfolk Association, Plymouth Fisherman Karen Balfour last saw his vessel docked at the bay on Monday. However, when he went to prepare for another day of fishing early this morning, the boat was nowhere to be found.
The vessel was reported missing to the Coast Guard, but the fisherman was informed that the report would be sent to Trinidad and has not heard anything since. Douglas is disappointed with the response.
Douglas also blamed poor lighting in the area for the vessel’s easy theft under the cover of darkness. He complained that authorities are not doing enough to protect fishermen and their livelihoods.
Anyone with information about the vessel’s whereabouts is asked to contact Balfour at 345-9477.
