Scarborough, Tobago – June 22, 2024 – Ahead of Monday’s (June 24, 2024) Tobago House of Assembly (THA) budget reading, Watson Duke, political leader of the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP), accused Chief Secretary Farley Augustine of managing a deficit budget.
Speaking at a press conference at his party’s headquarters in Scarborough, Duke explained that Augustine has failed to generate substantial revenue for Tobago while not reinvesting the money back into the community, as was promised on the election campaign trail. Duke’s comments highlight a significant point of contention regarding the THA’s financial management and its impact on Tobago’s economic development.
