Magistrate adjourns “Chris Must List” sedition case to 14th January 2025.
The sedition trial of Canadian YouTuber Christopher “Chris Must List” Hughes is set to begin in January 2024. Acting Chief Magistrate Christine Charles indicated this timeline during Hughes’s recent court appearance. Hughes requested a lengthy adjournment due to prior travel commitments, including a trip to Africa, and inquired about participating via video conferencing. Magistrate Charles advised him to apply to the High Court for a bail condition variation. Hughes’s previous legal team has withdrawn, leaving him to represent himself, though he may hire new counsel before the trial. The case will resume on January 14th, with deadlines for prosecutors to file the remaining evidence. Hughes faces charges related to seditious statements made in videos earlier this year.
