September 22, 2025- The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have claimed their fifth Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title after a thrilling victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence National Stadium.
Batting first, the Warriors struggled to score freely, posting a modest total of 130 runs. TKR’s chase started shakily, as they suffered a late collapse, losing three key wickets in five deliveries—including captain Kieron Pollard and star player Andre Russell.
With the match on the line, local all-rounder Akeal Hosein stepped up, scoring a rapid 16 runs off just seven balls to secure a three-wicket win for TKR. His two-wicket haul and crucial batting performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
This victory marked a historic achievement, making TKR only the second team in CPL history to lift the trophy after advancing through both the eliminator and semifinal stages.
