Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Opposition MP Davendranath Tancoo has alleged widespread corruption in the Ministry of National Security. He claimed that a staggering $5 billion was awarded in government contracts to businesses that did not go through the entire competitive procurement process.
Tancoo cited the First Annual Report of the Office of Procurement Regulation as the source of his information. He further stated that the protective services under the ministry have been stifled due to this alleged corruption. His comments highlight concerns over transparency, accountability, and the integrity of national security procurement.
