The Tobago Division of the TTPS hosts health and wellness fair for International Men’s Day.
The Tobago Division of the TTPS hosted a health and wellness fair in commemoration of International Men’s Day. The male staff were treated to sessions facilitated by professionals in health, physiotherapy, nutrition and financial empowerment. Physical demonstrations were conducted by a physiotherapist who was there to provide support and render services. Staff from the diabetes clinic provided blood sugar testing and advised on healthier meal options and lifestyle changes. Also in attendance was a representative from the TTPS Credit Union who spoke with the men about existing accounts and encouraged others to open new accounts. Participants freely engaged with health and wellness practitioners throughout the event. International Men’s Day is celebrated on November 19 annually and was founded by Trinidadian Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a lecturer at the UWI St. Augustine campus, as an honour to his own father. His primary objectives are to raise awareness of men’s issues globally and provide a platform for men to freely express themselves, access basic services and be celebrated for their contributions to their societies.
