Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher, speaking as a key figure at the Mid-Year Convention of the National Parent Teachers Association (NPTA), asserted that there is no adequate substitute for proper parenting when addressing the behaviors of today’s youth. She noted a prevalent over-reliance on the police to manage issues that fundamentally begin at home.
However, Commissioner Harewood-Christopher also acknowledged the crucial role of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). She proposed several initiatives the TTPS is actively implementing to restore, rebuild, and positively brand communities and society at large. These programs aim to foster greater community engagement and address social issues beyond traditional law enforcement, working towards a more stable environment for young people.
