In recognition of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) unveiled its Baby-Friendly Unit at Scarborough General Hospital on August 27th. The unit hosted a podcast moderated by specialist Christian Roachford, covering key topics such as milk production techniques, tandem nursing strategies, and the benefits of skin-to-skin contact for newborns. Special guest Rayanne Stephens shared her personal experience, highlighting the importance of having her partner’s support during breastfeeding. The event was attended by a range of health professionals, including TRHA’s Baby-Friendly Coordinator Debra Cook-Warner, Registered Nurse Akilah McLetchie-Alfred, and others. The TRHA also introduced the Tobago Adventures of Breastfeeding Support (TABS) online community, offering comprehensive guidance on breastfeeding-related matters.
