Officers Armed and Ready in Tobago

Scarborough, Tobago – In a strategic move to bolster safety and security, a team of officers from Trinidad has deployed to Tobago, providing crucial reinforcement to the Tobago Division. This initiative aims to increase public safety not only for the recent Christmas season but also beyond. The reinforcement comes just days after an alleged member of a Tobago Sixx Gang was shot and killed at an establishment in Crown Point, heightening local concerns.

Head of Homicide, Senior Superintendent Rishi Singh, confirmed that police are actively preparing for possible reprisals following the incident. As a proactive measure, officers have already conducted extensive mobile and foot patrols in the Downtown Scarborough Area. During these operations, several vehicles and individuals were stopped and searched; however, nothing illegal was found at that time. These robust exercises are slated to continue across the island.

The recent operation was spearheaded by Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) Collis Hazel and Kelvern Thompson, and coordinated by Senior Superintendents Roger Alexander, Earl Ellie, and Michael Jackman, along with Superintendents Dave Spence and Rodcliffe Kirk. Supervision was provided by ASP Ramesar, with participation from Inspector Forbes, Corporals Wallace, Tobias, and Police Constables Balkaran, Smith, King, De Coteau, Babwah, and Basso.

This coordinated effort underscores the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s commitment to proactive crime deterrence and maintaining peace in Tobago, particularly during peak seasons and following significant incidents.
