As per reports, police officers encountered an attack during a routine operation. While in a marked police vehicle, they spotted a black Mazda driving without lights on Shirvan Road in Buccoo around 12:15 a.m.
After executing a U-turn on Buccoo Road, the officers observed suspicious behaviour from the black Mazda. They activated their sirens and flashing lights to pursue the vehicle. During the pursuit, as they approached Grafton Road, the driver allegedly discharged shots at the police. The chase persisted until the driver veered into a dim area with bushes along Orange Hill Road in Mt. Irvine, close to the golf course. The driver abandoned the car and fled on foot through the undergrowth.
Despite the involvement of officers from multiple units, including the Emergency Response Unit, Scarborough CID, Shirvan Road Police Station, and Crown Point Police Station, their search endeavors failed to locate the driver.
When questioned on the incident, Sergeant Joseph Jordan remained tight-lipped about the details. Sargent Jordan explained that a similar incident occurred two weeks ago and warned Tobagonians against such actions.
