Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a significant time for Muslims worldwide. It involves fasting, prayer, reflection, and community, forming one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Director Kamael Ali from Masjid Al-Tawbah in Lowlands explained the importance of Ramadan, where Muslims observe a unique and profound fasting practice. The month culminates in Eid al-Fitr, a festive celebration that includes prayers, sermons, communal gatherings, feasting, and charity. Joining together with family and friends, Muslims mark the end of the fasting period with joy and generosity. Save the date: Eid al-Fitr 2024 is anticipated to be on Friday, April 26th, pending the moon sighting.
