June 28, 2024 – Councillor Petal-Ann Roberts today received her instruments of appointment as Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first woman to hold this pivotal position in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
She was accompanied by Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, who previously held the role of Finance Secretary, to President’s House in Port-of-Spain for the short official ceremony. Speaking to members of the media after the ceremony, Roberts stated she is both overwhelmed and humbled by the opportunity. However, she emphasized that it is her profound desire to serve the people of Tobago that led her to accept this significant responsibility.
