Scarborough, Tobago – June 29, 2024 – Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young, has assured that his Ministry is actively addressing the impending environmental disaster at Studley Park, Tobago. This site is currently storing waste from the Gulfstream oil spill onshore cleanup.
Responding to a question in the House of Representatives this afternoon, Young noted that authorities have always been aware of the potential environmental threat posed by the temporary storage. He confirmed that they are actively searching for a long-term solution for the safe disposal of the oil spill waste in Tobago, underscoring the government’s commitment to mitigating the environmental risks at Studley Park.
