Finance Secretary Details Distribution of Tobago’s 5% Budget Share
October 15, 2025- Tobago’s 5% allocation from the national budget is being celebrated as a major win for the island, but attention is now turning to how those funds will be distributed among the ten divisions of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy, Petal-Ann Roberts, has provided further clarity on the matter, outlining the framework that will guide the disbursement of funds across the Assembly’s divisions. She explained that the distribution process was shaped by Tobago’s key development priorities, focusing on economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and enhanced delivery of social services.
Roberts stressed that the THA’s approach will centre on accountability, transparency, and results-driven spending. She said the goal is to ensure that each division effectively utilizes its allocation to deliver measurable benefits to the people of Tobago, while maintaining fiscal discipline and advancing the island’s long-term development agenda.
