The owner of the Tobago Cocoa Estate, Duane Dove, shared that their chocolate has won three awards from the Academy of Chocolate Awards: Silver for their Sea Salt Buccoo Reef 45% chocolate, Silver for their Tobago Cocoa Estate Farmers bar 58%, and Bronze for their Tobago Cocoa Estate Dark 70% chocolate. He expressed joy at winning these awards, emphasizing their importance and impact.
Dove said that he was shocked when he heard that he had won these awards. Dove highlighted that although “Tobago” is a part of the brand’s name to promote the island, they aim for these products to have close ties to their place of birth. He then provided an explanation of what makes quality chocolate.
Dove then mentioned that chocolate needs to be crafted in an artisanal manner. He further explained that 70% of the quality comes from the actual raw material, and the remaining 30% is involved in creating the final product. He pointed out the distinction between the Academy of Chocolate awards, based in the UK, and the International Chocolate Awards, which have a broader platform. He noted that individuals submit their products to both competitions.
Dove emphasized that all these achievements are significant, bringing pride to their staff and giving everyone a boost. He also announced that people can look forward to new products from the Tobago Cocoa Estate in the coming year.
