MOE Opens Applications for Special Assessment Arrangements to Level the Playing Field for Students with Special Needs in 2026 Exams
July 24, 2025–The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Trinidad and Tobago has officially opened online applications for Special Assessment Arrangements, a crucial initiative aimed at providing equitable access for students with diagnosed disabilities and other special educational needs sitting local examinations in 2026.
This timely provision seeks to “level the playing field” for eligible primary and secondary students, ensuring they can demonstrate their true potential without being disadvantaged by their special needs. The arrangements cover key examinations such as the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA), Trinidad & Tobago National Learning Assessment (TTNLA), and the Lower Secondary Proficiency Examination (LSPE).
According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, over 7,000 students were identified with special needs between January 2018 and April 2023, underscoring the significant demand for such support within the education system.
Parents and guardians are urged to complete applications via the dedicated Student Support Services Online Portal at concessions.moe.gov.tt. The deadline for submissions is Monday, August 25th, 2025.
