Lambeau, Tobago – February 28, 2024 – The recent oil spill has significantly impacted schools, fishermen, and businesses in the affected areas of Tobago. Due to health and safety concerns, two schools were temporarily closed, and Lambeau fishermen remained unable to work in the contaminated waters.
While the affected schools have since reopened, fishermen have been directed to fish elsewhere and operate their businesses at the Shaw Park Food Hub on a temporary basis. Amidst these ongoing challenges, one entrepreneur is publicly seeking compensation from the Government for his losses due to the oil spill. This highlights the severe economic repercussions of the environmental disaster on local businesses and livelihoods in Lambeau, Tobago.
