IDA urges immediate action against escalation crime situation in Tobago
Dr. Denise Tsoiafatt Angus, the Political Leader of the Innovative Democratic Alliance (IDA), raised concerns about Tobago’s escalating security issues in a recent press release. With a worrisome increase in violence, including four murders in two months, Tobago risks becoming a murder hotspot per capita if this trend persists.
The surge in crime not only endangers the safety and well-being of Tobagonians but also poses a threat to the island’s tourism sector. Dr. Tsoiafatt Angus highlighted the vulnerability of Tobago’s borders, citing recent incidents involving a boat carrying deceased individuals and a barge causing an oil spill.
Expressing doubt about the current administration’s ability to effectively tackle this issue, Dr. Tsoiafatt Angus cautioned against potential conflicts between the Chief Secretary and Prime Minister. Emphasizing the need for collaboration to find sustainable solutions, the IDA remains dedicated to advocating for Tobago’s security and will continue to push for actionable measures to address this pressing crisis.
