Scarborough, Tobago – August 13, 2024 – The political leader of the National Transformation Alliance and former Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, does not agree with Chief Secretary Farley Augustine renting fishing boats for Coast Guard operations.
Griffith stated that the Chief Secretary’s suggestion was misguided and showed a lack of understanding of border security and the proper use of national resources. He said it was a disservice to highly trained personnel to suggest they use fishing boats for such a critical mission. His comments underscore a significant disagreement over how to effectively address crime and border security in Tobago.
