The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries confirmed that the overturned Gulfstream vessel no longer leaks bunker fuel.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries has confirmed the cessation of hydrocarbon discharge from the overturned Gulfstream vessel near Cove, Tobago. An underwater survey by T&T Salvage/QT Environmental verified the halt. The team ensured the vessel compartments leaking bunker fuel are now filled with seawater above the leak, halting the fuel flow. Plans are underway to assess and remove the remaining product. To aid hydrocarbon recovery, two NOFI Current Busters and a Rapid Deployment Skimming System (RDSS) were deployed. Regular overflights, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard, monitor oil recovery efforts on water.
