Flooding A Major Concern for Bon Accord Residents

Residents of Bon Accord are expressing significant frustration over persistent flooding issues, particularly along the main road, every time a heavy downpour strikes. Barbra Wills, one resident, vividly recounted the distressing scenes of her street transforming into a “waterlogged island.”

Lucil Percy, another resident, highlighted that Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has indicated the involvement of civil engineers in assessing the Bon Accord area, with a specific focus on addressing this rampant flooding. Percy also noted that her father was prepared to offer valuable insights for managing drainage issues in the area.

Assemblyman Joel Sampson shared his plans with residents to explore innovative solutions for implementing essential drainage systems in Bon Accord. He mentioned that the project would commence as funds become available. Additionally, Dr. Allison Williams provided crucial insights into addressing the community’s persistent flooding problem.

It is hoped that the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) will carefully consider these issues when addressing future drainage concerns in Tobago, aiming for long-term solutions for the affected residents.
