Buccoo, Tobago – June 14, 2024 – The Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) has embarked on its annual monitoring program to assess the health and condition of coral reefs surrounding Tobago. Today, the team conducted a detailed survey of the eastern side of the Buccoo Reef.
During their observations, the IMA noted that the water temperatures remain exceptionally warm for this season. This is a concerning phenomenon that could have significant impacts on marine life and the continued health of Tobago’s coral reefs. The ongoing monitoring by the IMA aims to track these changes and understand their implications for the vital marine ecosystems.
