Thirty-five-year-old Mason Hall fisherman to be sentenced for gun and ammunition possession
Scarborough, Tobago – March 19th, 2024 – Bruce McClean, a 35-year-old fisherman from Main Road, Mason Hall, pleaded guilty yesterday before Master Sarah De Silva in the Scarborough High Court to charges of possession of a revolver and four rounds of ammunition.
Police encountered McClean on March 14th, 2024, during an exercise in Mt. Grace, near Harmony Hall Junction. Officers observed McClean sporting a black strap bag across his chest. When approached by police, he attempted to flee but was apprehended. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a wooden handle .38 revolver and four rounds of .38 ammunition, resulting in his immediate arrest. He was arrested on March 14th and formally charged on March 15th by Sgt Jonas of the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department.
McClean was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear for sentencing on April 4th, 2024. This case highlights ongoing efforts by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to combat illegal firearm possession in Tobago.
