Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – The Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (FIUTT) is issuing a crucial warning to the public about prevalent “Loan Fraud Scams.” These deceptive schemes involve fraudsters imitating legitimate lending businesses.
These scams are often advertised online or through social media platforms, where perpetrators replicate genuine lending websites or employ similar-looking email addresses to deceive unsuspecting individuals. To date, the FIU has received over 20 reports of suspected online loan scams, underscoring the widespread nature of this threat. The FIUTT urges citizens to exercise extreme caution and verify the authenticity of lending offers to avoid falling victim to these fraudulent activities.
