Lack of CCTV Cameras Hinders Murder Investigations in Tobago, Says ACP Collis Hazel
Scarborough, Tobago – A lack of CCTV cameras is being cited as a primary reason for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS) inability to solve murders in Tobago. While addressing residents at a police town hall meeting in Delaford last night, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Collis Hazel stated that detectives face an uphill task in trying to track the perpetrators of murders on the island.
Tobago has recorded five murders for the year so far. ACP Hazel noted that if more CCTV cameras were strategically installed, capturing criminals and solving cases would be significantly easier for the police. He also highlighted that the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) is responsible for installing more cameras to widen the surveillance coverage of the island.
ACP Hazel urged Delaford residents to explore different methods of collaborating to ensure community surveillance and protect themselves from criminal elements, emphasizing the importance of a collective approach to enhance safety.
