Seven participants from Tobago are in the Bahamas attending the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Study Tour which runs from September 23rd to 27th, 2024. The tour aims to strengthen the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) by exchanging knowledge and best practices with The Bahamas’ Ministry of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation. Funded by the IDB, the tour focuses on destination crisis management, with participants reviewing The Bahamas’ tourism strategies, particularly the operations of its Visitor Relations Unit. The delegation is being led by Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation, Tashia Burris, and includes representatives from the Office of the Chief Secretary, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency, (TEMA) and the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited, (TTAL). The insights gained are expected to improve Tobago’s crisis management and visitor relations strategies, enhancing the island’s resilience.
