Scarborough, Tobago – Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has stated that his administration is doing all in its power to get the rising crime situation in Tobago under control. He noted that under the THA Act 40 of 1996, the island’s government is unable to manage matters of national security.
Despite this limitation, Augustine emphasized that the Tobago House of Assembly is still able to engage in several community-based measures to enhance safety. Additionally, he revealed that his administration is nearing the ability to roll out the Public Safety Department under the Office of the Chief Secretary, a key initiative aimed at addressing crime-related issues.
