250th Anniversary Awards For Main Ridge Forestry Contributors…

Marking a monumental historic milestone for environmental conservation in the Western Hemisphere, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and the Division of Environment, Climate Resilience and Energy have honoured over two dozen dedicated foresters, game wardens, and conservation pioneers during the 250th Anniversary Awards commemorating the legal protection of the Main Ridge Forest Reserve

Established by ordinance on April 30, 1776, the Main Ridge stands as the oldest legally protected tropical rainforest reserve in the Western Hemisphere. The special recognition ceremony celebrated the frontline workers, trail guides, and ecological stewards who have spent decades safeguarding the island’s primary watershed, critical wildlife habitats, and UNESCO Man and the Biosphere heritage.
