JTUM Supports Pay Increase for CAL Pilots

The Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) is expressing concern over Labour Minister Stephen Mc Clashie’s reported comment to a media house. The Minister described the ten percent wage increase sought by the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) from Caribbean Airlines (CAL) as unrealistic.

JTUM finds the comment biased toward the employer and sees it as regressive, undermining impartial labour negotiations and collective bargaining principles. JTUM supports TTALPA and urges the minister to rectify the situation, calling for a neutral negotiation platform to protect workers’ rights and interests in the ongoing CAL and TTALPA negotiations spanning 2015-2018 and 2021-July.
