3-Ton Trucks Not Good Enough

The business community is facing challenges in loading goods onto 3-ton trucks. They typically use larger trucks for transporting goods and supplies via the Cabo Star. However, with the vessel out of service and passenger ferries trying to compensate, it has created a logistical nightmare. This insight comes from Curtis Williams, the Chairman of the Tobago Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Williams expressed that the business community is growing increasingly frustrated and disheartened by what they perceive as a lack of consideration for contingency plans when issues arise on the inter-island sea bridge. Meanwhile, stocks are running low for many goods in Tobago.

Earlier today, the Port Authority announced their anticipation of a temporary vessel’s arrival from Venezuela, which is expected to provide some relief. This vessel will serve as a replacement until the Cabo Star is recertified and deemed fit for sailing.
