Watson Duke Wants to Reconcile

A year has elapsed since political ties between Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and Assemblyman Watson Duke publicly disintegrated. This disagreement resulted in Duke’s departure from the executive council and Augustine’s resignation from the PDP. Subsequently, Augustine and his supporters established the Tobago People’s Party (TPP). Following his defeat in the Local Government Elections, Duke appears to now be pleading to Augustine to reconcile their former relations.

Duke mentioned that he had previously sent six letters to Augustine but has not received a response. The PDP political leader remains persistent because he believes that the people deserve better. Duke stated that he is pursuing a diplomatic approach with Augustine to prevent the PNM from having an opportunity to return to power.

Duke indicated that he is still affected by the collapse of his political ties with Augustine. Despite his desire to collaborate with Augustine again, Duke mentioned that he will not be joining the TPP.
