Child Justice Unit encourage citizens to protect and defend the rights of children.
pril 13, 2024 – Every child has fundamental rights, including the right to be alive, to be cared for, and to be protected from violence, abuse, and neglect, as stipulated by the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child. Unfortunately, recent reports highlight that some children in Trinidad and Tobago are being denied these very rights.
While the population has every right to be alarmed and shocked at certain reports of child abuse and neglect, the Child Justice Unit of the Children’s Authority is encouraging citizens to use this opportunity for heightened vigilance. They urge the public to actively look out for signs of children being neglected and abused and to promptly make reports to the relevant authorities. This call to action emphasizes the collective responsibility in protecting children’s rights in Trinidad and Tobago.
