E.M.T Workers Complain That Leased Ambulances Are Not Adequate Enough To Provide Optimal Services To Public
Scarborough, Tobago – January 2024 – The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) sought to alleviate the island’s ambulance shortage by leasing four ambulances from Universal Ambulance Services Limited. However, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) workers have raised concerns, stating that these leased vehicles are reportedly not suitable for providing necessary services.
EMT personnel also complained that they were not consulted before the ambulances were provided, leading to issues regarding their practical utility for critical patient care. This situation highlights potential discrepancies between the intended solution for the ambulance shortage in Tobago and the operational realities faced by frontline healthcare providers.
