Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Attorney General Reginald Armour has announced his decision to withdraw the Miscellaneous Provisions (Senior Citizens’ Pension and Public Assistance) Bill, 2024.
The bill had sparked controversy for a clause that proposed to disqualify individuals with bank savings exceeding $25,000 from receiving the old age pension. During a recent media conference, AG Armour clarified that the inclusion of savings as a condition was never intended to be part of the final legislation. His decision aims to address public concern and misinformation surrounding the proposed changes.
