New Government Shows More Action in 100 Days Than Past Decade

August 14,2025 The Estate Police Association (EPA) is expressing renewed optimism following a recent meeting with newly appointed Minister of Public Utilities, Barry Padarath, on August 12. Representing over 5,000 Estate Police officers tasked with safeguarding Trinidad and Tobago’s critical infrastructure, the association described the engagement as a turning point after years of neglect.

During the meeting, the EPA raised long-standing issues including outstanding wage negotiations, non-payment of salaries and deductions, gratuity for retirees, and the need for proper bulletproof vest standards.

In a candid statement, the EPA said it has seen more tangible progress within the government’s first 100 days than in the past decade. The Association and the Ministry have now agreed to maintain a solutions-focused dialogue, signaling a new willingness to address challenges that have burdened this critical security sector for years.
