Decisive Measures Taken to Safeguard Trinidad and Tobago’s Pork Industry

Acting Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Lisa Musai confirmed that all pigs on the affected farm have been removed and reassured the public that locally produced pork remains safe for consumption.

Agriculture Minister Ravi Ratiram extended gratitude to the collaborating agencies and the affected farmer for their cooperation in managing the outbreak. Decontamination of the site is now in progress.

The Ministry is urging all farmers to remain vigilant and report any signs of illness by contacting the PRRS Hotline at 280-7945.
