Health Secretary Br. B Yisreal says T.R.H.A. is acquiring surrounding property to expand hospital services and defends the purchase of ambulances.
Scarborough, Tobago – In response to recent claims, Secretary of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, Dr. Faith B Yisrael, has clarified the status of the Tobago Regional Health Authority’s (TRHA) ongoing projects.
Hospital Expansion: Regarding rumors about purchasing Palms Villas in Signal Hill, Dr. B Yisrael explained that the TRHA is focused on upgrading healthcare delivery. This includes securing property boundaries and expanding facilities to meet future demands. Talks are underway with landowners near the Scarborough General Hospital to acquire additional space, but these discussions are still in the early stages.
New Ambulances: Dr. B Yisrael also confirmed that the TRHA had engaged suppliers for four new ambulances to replace its ageing fleet. She noted that three of the vehicles have already passed all necessary inspections in Trinidad. The TRHA is still working with the supplier to ensure the vehicles fully meet the agreed specifications before final acceptance.
